S & A are such sweethearts! They are from Florida, but were coming out to Hawaii for a vacation to celebrate their one-year wedding anniversary. They reached out to me inquiring about a couples portrait photography session while here to capture their love for one another. I was so excited that they reached out to me to document this important chapter in their lives.
We started our planning with a questionnaire that I sent to them. It gave me a good idea of the vibe they were trying to create. From there, I came up with list of locations that not only would fit their vibe, but also fit their accommodations and scheduled tours. We were able to pick out spots to consider, but because S & A REALLY wanted to showcase both the beautiful beaches and mountains in Hawaii, they decided to book me for a two-day excursion, and I was super stoked with their decision! If you can't decide on one location, why short change yourself, right?!? :) Once we determined location for both days, I sent S & A color schemes to consider to help with their wardrobe choices.
Day #1 was done with a beach backdrop on the east side of Oahu at sunrise. The environment was peaceful. It was secluded. It was gorgeous! We met about 30 minutes before sunrise to do a meet and greet and to give us time to walk down to our first spot. S & A had mentioned in their questionnaire and in-person that they're awkward in front of the camera and don't quite know what to do, but I think they were joking around because seriously, they did great! Their expressions were natural, they seemed comfortable (and if they weren't feeling comfortable, they totally fooled me!), and most importantly, they were having a great time!
The waves were crashing just perfectly (if that's even a thing, lol), and the mist from the water was a great touch! And when the sun rose behind the rocks... ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!! The lighting couldn't have been any more perfect! S & A walked, climbed, danced, sat, hugged and laughed the morning away. We couldn't have asked for a better first day!
And every time I thought we were done, I kept finding another "perfect spot" for another beautiful shot. It took forever to get back to our cars because of this, but they were total troopers! lol. But as a photographer, I love taking advantage of every minute, including the transitions because in my head, the session isn't completely done until we are back to our cars and driving away. So I will keep clicking away until then :)
One we wrapped up our session, S & A went about their day to explore the rest of the east side and I hopped in my car to drive to the other side to watch and shoot my son's soccer game :)
It was a great morning!!!
