Honolulu, Hawaii Family Photographer/ Mommy and Me Session on Oahu/ The R Family

M is an Army Veteran, and reached out to me inquiring about a 'Mommy & Me' session with her 2 year old son, C. They have a strong bond and love each other very much, and she wanted to hire an Oahu Family Photographer to capture this chapter in their lives. Being a mama myself, I knew exactly what she meant, and I was super excited to do the session for them!

There was a 64% chance rain that afternoon. The sky was cloudy with spotty blues, but you could see the dark gray clouds moving in. M & I contemplated on rescheduling to the following day or the day after, but since we both knew Hawaii weather is so unpredictable, we decided to take a chance and hope luck was on our side!

M warned me that C can be very shy and don't usually like to take pictures if he feels too forced, so I made sure that I was ready and prepared with bubbles, snacks and his favorite songs ready to play, just in case it took a little bit for him to warm up to me. But I'm so glad it didn't! We were buddies pretty soon after we first met!

As for the session itself, Mother Nature gave us maybe 30 minutes of dry weather and then the rain came pouring down! Add in a very energetic boy that kept his mama busy, and many moments of playing and chasing each other around, and we had ourselves a super fun session! We had a blast and shot until it was dark and the park closed for the day! Thank goodness I always pack my flash. Thank you M for the opportunity! I definitely felt the love between the two of you!
