A and I were classmates at Oregon State University. We were in the same program, and we were also resident assistants together. We lost touch after we graduated with our bachelors degree because we both continued on to graduate school. She stayed in Oregon and I moved to Michigan. We still kept in touch, sort of, lol. It wasn't the same as staying in touch in person, but we at least had Facebook to check up on each other.
Fast forward to many, many years later... I find out from a mutual friend that A and her family are planning a visit to Hawaii in July, and that I needed to set aside some time while she was here so that we could catch up. And OF COURSE I did! To my surprise, a couple of weeks before they flew down, A reached out to me and asked to book me to be her Oahu family photographer while they were here. Heck yes! I was so excited to not only catch up with my college bud, but also to meet her family for the first time, and to take her family photos in Hawaii. What a gift!
She let me choose the location, but she requested a beach vibe. So we decided on a sunset shoot at one of my favorite beach locations on the west side. I swear I say this over, and over again, but Hawaii sunsets never disappoints, and that day wasn't any other different. We had an awesome time. Her oldest son took a little bit of coercing to participate in the family shoot, but he came around and we were able to capture some great shots with his handsome smile on deck!
We were starving after the shoot. Thank goodness for Chili's being around the corner and no wait time to deal with! Score!
Thank you A for letting me capture your family. I can't wait to visit you guys in Oregon and show my family why I love the Pacific Northwest so much! Rain and all... lol. A hui ho, O Family. Until next time...
